Come closer for a moment. Not to me, but to this moment of your life.
I would tell you this:
Your life is already offering you beautiful things, even while you are busy trying to build a more beautiful life.
There is beauty in the light entering your home this morning. In the warmth of a cup held between your hands. In the fact that you can still feel deeply, still dream, still imagine a life that feels like your own.
You don’t have to turn every beautiful thing into something useful. You don’t have to earn the right to enjoy your life by making it more successful, more secure, or more meaningful.
Sometimes, I think you look at the present through the eyes of the person you’re trying to become. And you forget that the person living this very day is already worthy of tenderness.
Your dreams matter. Your freedom matters.
But so does the afternoon sunlight on your floor. So does laughing at something silly. So does having nowhere to go and nothing to prove.
Life isn’t only the destination you’re working toward. It’s also the quiet world that’s holding you while you get there.
And perhaps today, you don’t need to change anything about your life to see its beauty.
Perhaps you only need to stop asking it to become something else for a little while.
